Who makes which tyre

For many years the "premium" tyre companies looked at the so called "budget" manufacturers with disdain, eventually they realised that they were actually losing massive amounts of money to the man in the street who was not "tyre brandist" in other words millions of people realised that there is no need to spend ridiculous amount of money on high priced big name brands.

Do you really need to buy high priced race quality tyres for a family runabout that is only used to collect the shopping and the school run?

Do you need to buy premium brands at twice the price for a car that does 8000 miles per year?

NO OFF COURSE NOT!

The Big boys now make the budget ranges! They realised that the only way to compete at the "lower end" of the market is to make budget ranges, they are usually made in the same factory as the High priced tyres! They use different names simply because if they put "premium brand" names on them then no-one will pay the high prices for the other's!

Every premium company makes-or has made for them-budget ranges, have a look at this list of brands.

Car Tyres

Do you believe that any of the major tyre companies would be associated with unsafe tyres?

On a personal level we @ tiptop believe that £ per mile you are better of with budget brands, but having said that, if you want Pirelli/Michelin/Dunlop/Goodyear etc, that's fine by us.
